Light on Ice – 1998
Watercolor on Japanese nacre paper – 30 x 22
The dance of light on a frozen body of water interpreted as sprites, iridescent and exhilarated, with skate blades for feet, etching the ice, creating a spectacle like the winter sun glinting through frost patterns on a windowpane at dawn. And with it comes the suggestion to move with grace, and to step lightly.
This work is a companion to Thin Ice – An Ice Field Mask.
